New Year, New Movement: 3 Ways to Feel Better in Your Body

January is full of New Year’s resolutions, but here are three simple ways to help you feel better in your body as we head into 2026...

1. Take regular movement breaks throughout the day

It’s become the norm for many adults in the UK to spend hours each day sitting - working, commuting, watching TV, or scrolling. Regular movement breaks help break up long periods of inactivity, which are thought to slow down metabolism and affect things like blood sugar, blood pressure, and body fat. They’re also great for productivity. Did we say… Movement Matters?

A few easy ways to add more movement into your day:

  • Walk to the kitchen for a glass of water rather than keeping a bottle at your desk

  • Stand up and roll your shoulders or mobilise your joint, perfect for TV time or work breaks

  • Move around while making phone calls

  • If possible, stand rather than sit when commuting on public transport

  • Working in a team? Make it an office‑wide thing. Feeling competitive? See who can balance on one leg the longest (do your own risk assessments 😁)

  • Movement breaks can be adapted to your ability, comfort level, and environment. Any movement counts!

2. Breathe with intention

Breathing happens automatically, but it’s also something we can consciously influence. Our breath often changes in response to stress, and we can use intentional breathing to help calm the body and the mind.

Try taking five minutes a day for slow, deep breaths either at your desk, while waiting for the kettle to boil, or whenever you need a reset.

Longer breathing practices can be even more beneficial. Setting aside time for diaphragmatic breathing exercises may support things like lowering blood pressure and improving muscle function during exercise.

3. Book regular massages

Of course this one made the list. Massage has so many benefits — helping you feel more relaxed, more comfortable in your body, and more functional day‑to‑day.

Regular treatments help keep your body working at its best and give you the chance to address niggles before they become bigger issues.

To help you get started on your regular massage journey, enjoy 10% off sports massages on Mondays throughout January and February (T&Cs apply) - click here to book our limited time Massage Mondays offer.

Small changes add up and your body will thank you.

We hope to see you for a treatment very soon!
